The Green Package includes purchase and installation of the following:

1- COMPACT FLOURESCENT BULBS
Fluorescents use 70% less electricity than incandescent bulbs. Replace your standard indoor general-purpose bulbs with 14 or 19-Watt daylight spiral types that imitate sunlight (compare to 60 or 75 Watt standards).  All packages include 30 bulbs.

2- FOAM SWITCH INSULATOR
Light switches and electrical outlets are a perfect way for heated or cooled air to escape. Seal them with these polyethylene foam gaskets that install behind the covers. Packages include 30 sealers.

3- SINK FAUCET AERATORS
Many faucets can flow water at 4-5 gallons per minute (gpm). By adding aerators and reducing the flow to less than 2 gpm, you’re cutting waste and saving money, without losing water force.  Packages include 3 sink faucet aerators.

4- TOILET WATER USE
Cycle Diverters save 1/2 to 1-1/2 gallons of water per flush by diverting the majority of water that would normally travel down the toilet's overflow tube.  Water dams install in the tank and works as a dam, by preventing about one gallon of water per flush from leaving the tank without loss of head pressure. Packages based on 2 toilets per home.

5- LOW FLOW SHOWERS
Reduced flow massage showerheads both save water and conserve energy used to heat the water. This low flow showerhead comes in 1.75 or 1.50 or 1.25gpm (gallons per minute) ratings.  Packages include product for 2 showers.

6- SET WATER HEATER TO 130 DEGREES
Set water heater thermostats at 130 degrees.  Humans cannot tolerate temperatures of 140F (60C) or above without scalding.   Warm water in the range of 95-113F (35-46C) may not kill all microorganisms.

7- ADJUST SPRINKLER TIMERS/HEADS
Water your landscape and NOT the concrete.  Adjusting sprinkler heads to target grass or beds reduces the amount of water wasted as it flows down city sewers.  Set sprinkler timers for the type of grass in your lawn.  The irrigation needs of Bermuda, St. Augustine and Buffalo grasses vary due to different root growth.

8- WALL SOCKET MOTIONS SENSOR
Made to save electricity with floor lamps or other plug in devices. This sensor simply plugs into a wall socket and when it detects motion, it turns on. After a period of inactivity, the sensor automatically turns off, stopping the electrical current and saving energy. Packages include 3 per house.

9- SET CENTRAL UNIT
Simply programming your thermostat to alter the temperature a few degrees when the home is unoccupied can save as much as 10% on your heating or cooling bills.

10- SMART STRIPS
While the computer is turned off, each peripheral still draws an idle current that adds up dramatically.  Use this smart strip (as seen on Oprah). Ten outlets work together, auto-switching your devices on/off automatically, to save you money on your electric bills.  2225 joules of surge protection keep your equipment safe from even the harshest power spikes.  Packages include 3 per house.

This package includes our Green items and also offers purchase and installation of the following:

11- OUTDOOR SOLAR LIGHT
This is a powerful and bright security floodlight fixture, with a 12’ cable cord (for remote sunlight access) that can be installed quickly and easily almost anywhere. Built in motion sensor detects persons within a 30 foot radius @ 180 degree coverage.  One light included.
12- POWER MONITOR
Studies show that real-time feedback can help homeowners save 10-20 % of their energy use.  This wireless display device is vital in educating consumers about exactly what is causing higher electric bills.  Display mounts inside; sensor (compatible with all North American digital and electro-mechanical meters) is mounted out side and ‘reads’ the electricity for which you are charged.  Invaluable as a graphic tool to teach children about resource cause and effect.  One per house.
13- WATER HEATER JACKET
Water Heater Tank Wraps are designed to hug your water heater tank snugly, improve insulation, prevent heat loss and promote energy conservation.  Up to 2 per house.
14- OCCUPANCY SWITCH
Most useful in high traffic rooms.  With 20% of our electric costs associated with lighting, just remembering to turn lights off can be very cost-effective.  This infrared occupancy sensor automatically turns lights on when a person enters a room, and off 30 seconds to 30 minutes after leaving.  Package includes 5 per house.

This package includes our Greener items and also offers purchase and installation of the following:

15- RAIN/FREEZE SENSOR
This wireless sensor controls your sprinklers in rainy or freezing weather, stopping water waste and costly repairs for frozen sprinkler pipes.  1 Per house.
16- SOLAR ATTIC VENTILATOR
Good airflow in the attic means a cooler house and less work for your air conditioning unit.   Lower your electricity usage with this high quality solar powered attic exhaust fan.  This one runs on solar power, doubling the savings!  1 Per house.

17- RADIANT BARRIER
Much of the heat entering your home comes through the roof.  Radiant barrier insulation is a reflective insulation system that offers a permanent way to reduce energy costs by reflecting radiant heat energy instead of trying to absorb it.  This thermal treatment works well (but oppositely) in both summer and winter months by keeping the heat from moving through the barrier.  Prices based on 2500 square feet - estimate of final price given before work begins.

Developed by NASA to keep astronauts from losing their body heat in the cold vacuum of space, Super R®, is also one of the components in the Space Shuttle’s outer heat tiles.  For us here on the Earth, the primary residential benefit of using radiant barrier is in reducing air-conditioning cooling loads in warm or hot climates.

Radiant Barrier FAQs
By definition, residential radiant barriers are materials that are installed in homes to reduce summer heat gain and winter heat loss thereby reduce heating and cooling energy costs. RB is not like insulation, which slows down or resists heat transfer. Radiant Barriers work by keeping radiated heat rays out of your attic, and that lowers cooling costs.

We install only Super R®, which is a material with polyethylene weaving for reinforcement. This gives a tensile strength of over 80 pounds per inch.

Although it is simplest to install radiant barriers directly on top of the attic floor we, at Greener Home Solutions, always install to your roof rafters. While installing directly on the attic floor will certainly cut your energy costs and help to insulate your home, it still falls short of insulating your attic. In hot climates, a home’s attic can reach 145 degrees. Almost 100% of the homes in America have their air conditioning ducts running through …you guessed it…the attic. Imagine a duct carrying 75-degree air (that you pay utility costs to cool), suspended in a heat zone that stays around 140 degrees in the summer months! By staying with the more difficult, but more effective, practice of affixing barrier near the roof rafters, Greener Home Solutions does a better job at saving you money.

Details about our Radiant Barrier package

Our trained and experienced technicians will go into your attic and affix Super R® Radiant Barrier to the bottom of your roof rafters. They will NOT cover your vents or any existing ventilation outlets.

Get FREE CFB’s and hit your two top energy guzzlers at once!!  With the purchase of a Radiant Barrier package our technicians will replace your standard indoor general-purpose bulbs with Compact Fluorescent Bulbs.

The Energy Tax Incentives Act of 2005 Section 25C allows for tax credits on energy upgrades including insulation products when purchased in 2007.  You can receive a tax credit of 10% of the cost of material when you purchase radiant barrier in 2007 for use in your residence!  The maximum cumulative amount you can receive for 2007 is $500.  The residential applications that qualify for this credit are attics, walls, and crawl spaces.  See Energy Star tax credits (scroll to Home Improvements/IRS Notice2006-26.pdf) for more info.
